The Development of Bio-Oil from Waste Textile Cotton Cellulose: A Promising Source of Renewable Energy

In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on developing sustainable and renewable energy sources to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. One promising area of research is the conversion of waste biomass into bio-oil, which can be used as a substitute for traditional fossil fuels. In this study, we explore the development of bio-oil from waste textile cotton cellulose (BOC) and activated waste textile cotton cellulose by H3PO4 (BOP).

The complexity of BOP is significantly reduced compared to BOC, making it an attractive option for purification. The low-quality products in BOP, such as Glucopyranose and Aromatic, decreased from 47.7% to 16.64%-5%, while the high-quality products, Ketone and Cycloalkane, increased from 4.66% to 0-30.41%. This is a significant improvement over BOC, which has a much higher content of impurities.

To better understand the pyrolysis reaction, we evaluated the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters using an isoconversion model. Our results show that the thermal weight-loss process can be separated into three stages: drying, rapid pyrolysis, and carbonization. This knowledge is crucial in optimizing the pyrolysis conditions to produce high-quality bio-oil.

In this study, BOC and BOP were pyrolyzed at four different heating rates using a thermogravimetric analyzer (TG). Our results show that the bioenergy potential of waste textile cotton cellulose is significant, with BOP producing a higher yield of bio-oil compared to BOC. The activation process using H3PO4 improved the quality and quantity of bio-oil produced from BOC.

In conclusion, our study demonstrates the promising potential of converting waste textile cotton cellulose into bio-oil. The activated waste textile cotton cellulose by H3PO4 (BOP) is a more attractive option due to its reduced complexity and higher yield of high-quality products. These results have important implications for the development of sustainable and renewable energy sources, and further research in this area is warranted.
